Roof & stone washing · Aberdeen & 15 miles

Roofs, stone, brick and render — cleaned the right way for the material.

Roof tiles, pointing, render and natural stone all need a different approach. Soft wash where pressure would do damage, pressure where the surface can take it, and a moss or algae treatment afterwards where the growth will otherwise just come back.

Choosing an approach

Pressure wash or soft wash — it depends on the surface.

This is the part most people don't get told. Blasting a roof or weathered render at full pressure strips the surface, loosens pointing and can force water where you don't want it. On other surfaces, pressure is exactly what's needed. We assess the material first and tell you which one it should be — and why.

Pressure washing

For surfaces that can take it — concrete, block paving, hard-wearing stone, paths and drives.

  • Concrete and block paving
  • Hard-wearing stone and slabs
  • Brick and render in sound condition
  • Paths, drives and hard-standing

Soft washing

For surfaces where pressure would cause damage — applied at low pressure with a treatment that does the work instead.

  • Roof tiles and slates
  • Weathered or older render
  • Delicate natural stone
  • Surfaces with fragile pointing

Surfaces

What we clean.

  • Roof washing

Moss, lichen and algae removed from tiles and slates. Treated afterwards so regrowth is slowed rather than left to come straight back.

  • Natural stone

Sandstone, granite and dressed stone cleaned at a pressure suited to the material.

  • Brickwork

Green algae staining, soot and general grime lifted from brick — including the pointing, which is where pressure needs care.

  • Render and harling

Aberdeen's traditional harling and modern render both need a gentler hand than people expect.

  • Walls and boundary stone

Garden walls, retaining walls and boundary stone brought back to their original tone.

  • Moss and algae treatment

Applied after cleaning to slow regrowth. Quoted in with the job or as a separate extra — we'll tell you which and why.

Treatments

Cleaning alone isn't the full job.

Moss and algae come back. On a roof or a north-facing wall, a clean surface with no treatment can look green again within a season. Where a treatment is worth having, we'll recommend it — and you decide.

Included in the quote

Where a treatment is genuinely part of getting the job done properly, we'll build it into the price and tell you it's there.

Available as an extra

Where it's optional — slowing regrowth on a roof, for example — we'll quote it separately so you can decide.

Honest about the limits

No treatment stops moss permanently. Anyone promising that is selling you something. It slows regrowth and makes the next clean easier.

Send us a photo of the roof or wall.

Roof and stone work is hard to quote blind — how much growth there is, the pitch, access and the material all change the job. A photo from the ground or an upstairs window tells us most of what we need, and we'll tell you straight whether it's a pressure or soft wash.
